Wellness Night

Wellness Nights we gather as a community to learn more about Mental Health/Wellness

Wellness Nights are opportunities to gather as a community to learn more about Mental Health/Wellness. Some may be more educational in nature, some may be more about connecting as a church community, some may be more about supporting one another...

WELLNESS NIGHT (January 31st, 2024)

It was a great night with about 60 in attendance - students, parents and grandparents. We all learned a lot as Morgan shared her story and answered many questions from the group!

Morgan is the Regional Director for Minding Your Mind California. More information about her and Minding You Mind can be found here https://mindingyourmind.org/our-programs/parent-programs/

WELLNESS NIGHT (September 27, 2023)

What a great night! With 150+ in attendance, we learned so much from Dr. Chinwé Williams, Ph. D. Our night was filled with gems from the book SEEN, co-written by Dr. Chinwé Williams and Will Hutcherson. Not only were we updated on current trends in mental health, but we were also taught real ways to help our kids feel seen. Thank you Dr. Chinwé! And thank you to Pastor Jamie Nelson for partnering on this Wellness Night!

WELLNESS NIGHT (October 4, 2022)

In October, we welcomed Donna Sugano, Pastor of Family Ministry at Santa Barbara Community Church, for a session on opening lines of communication with our kids about their bodies and sex. Titled Time for the Talk: Equipping Parents for Sex-Education. This evening was geared toward parents and grandparents who have children/grandchildren ages 2-18. Feedback was wonderful as participants stated that they walked away with more knowledge and actual tools for having conversations with their children/grandchildren. The turnout was great, lots of moms, dads and grandparents!

Our Assistant Director of Family Wellness, Melissa Bolt shares more:

I love that Donna Sugano really focuses on our relationships with our kids! Really, this is about so much more than “sex-ed”; it is about having conversations with our kids and keeping the lines of communication open.

Donna shares:

We are not simply providing our children with a list of dos and don’ts but are instead guiding them into healthy and God-honoring patterns of living and being. This is about more than sex. Comprehensive sex education also focuses on relationships and how they should view and treat others and themselves.
