In your time alone with God in scripture reflection, solitude, prayer and journaling, begin with a breath prayer like "Come, Holy Spirit" and listen to a song from the playlist. In this message series we are on a journey with Jesus through the gospel of Mark. Be attentive to God's invitation to follow and draw near to Jesus as he reveals God's kingdom to us in this bold and active message of who Jesus is and what he came to do.
- Observation. Read the passage of scripture and pay attention to words or phrases that seem important or raise questions for you. Mark up your journal with colored pencils, pens or markers. Draw lines to connect words that repeat or are in contrast to other words.
- Meditation. Read the passage again. Imagine yourself in the passage with Jesus. Where is he going? What is he doing? What are the sounds, smells, people around you? What is Jesus inviting you to do, say, feel, think? Write a few sentences or bullet points in your journal to reflect your meditation. Be creative.
- Prayer. What prayer of praise, gratitude, or confession arises from your heart and mind as you meditate on this passage? How can you pray for yourself, those you love, or the world around you? Write out your prayer in your journal and offer it to God.
