Weekly Prayer Focus—Advent
Advent is the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event. We in the Christian community place special emphasis on this arrival….the arrival of Jesus Christ our Lord. This is the first season of the Christian church year and ends on December 24….the day before we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. It’s a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus.
Let us pray…
- people draw closer to each other as they reflect on the real meaning of Christmas,
- we draw closer to our Lord as we focus on the meaning of his coming.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. Matthew 1:20
Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. James 5:7
