GIVING

Throughout Scripture, we are reminded of the importance of giving back a portion of what God has so generously provided. God tells us that giving is an act of worship and it should be done with joy and thanksgiving.

At SBPC, giving can be done in worship services, online, through Designated Giving, and Legacy Giving (Kingdom Builder Foundation).

Regular Giving

The ministries of SBPC are supported solely by the faithful giving of friends and members, funding life-changing ministries within our church family, in the community and around the world. Your part in support of Christ’s church is a blessing to all, but more importantly a source of joy for you and your family. You, the body of Christ in Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, are a living example of the power and presence of God.

If you have committed to life together at SBPC, we ask that you support the vision that God has given to your church with uncommonly generous service, prayer, and giving.

Uncommon generosity comes in all shapes and sizes and is not the same for everyone. Pray about how you may be generous with what God has given to you.

We are grateful to God for all the gifts he has given and believe he is calling us to be a church that reaches out to our community, welcomes the next generation of families and children, and blesses those around us through acts of service so that they see God at work in our world and know the life-changing love of Jesus.

Thank you for taking time to seriously consider your commitments to SBPC.

Designated Giving

In addition to your regular tithes and offerings, we also have specially designated needs and ministries to give to. Designated giving funds go directly to the ministry in question.

OUR FRIENDS IN ETHIOPIA

SBPC is at work in the desert of Ethiopia to bring the gospel and community development to a group known simply as “our friends”.

DEACONS

Caring, praying, and serving with compassion, with Jesus as our example, define Deacon’s Ministries. The church charges its Deacons to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.

KIDSGAMES

KidsGames is our annual summer sports themed day camp for kids through 6th grade. It is full of energy with children learning about various compassion projects, biblical principals, and playing sports. We host between 600 and 700 kids during this week.

COMMUNITY SERVE DAY

Community Serve Day is an event where we join with our friends and neighbors to do good in our community for the glory of God.

COME BUILD HOPE

Come Build Hope is our annual Memorial Day Weekend home building trip in Baja, Mexico. We partner with Mexican families to build relationships, homes, and hope.

HISPANIC MINISTRY

Our Hispanic Ministry serves our local community with support and encouragement through worship, service, and specific helps.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS

You can give to help middle and high school campers get to camp. Our students have a great opportunity at camp to connect with God and each other.

Kingdom Builder Foundation

The Kingdom Builder Foundation has been prayerfully created to allow us to dream big. It puts Christ-focused ministries on a course where money is generated and invested to sustain a perpetual motion of growing and giving.

The Kingdom Builder Foundation was created in 2007 to provide members and friends of Solana Beach Presbyterian Church the opportunity to leave legacy gifts to a member managed foundation. Interest earned on conservatively invested foundation gifts will be granted annually to answer God’s desire for us to do significant kingdom building at our church, in the community and around the world.

Visit the Kingdom Builder Foundation website for more information, apply for a grant, or learn how you can leave an enduring legacy gift.

Biblical Themes of Giving

GOD IS EXCEEDINGLY GENEROUS
  • God has already “proven” his generosity by giving us Christ and then the Holy Spirit (John 3:16; John 15:26; Romans 5:5)
  • We cannot imagine the extent of His generosity (Mat 7:11; Rom 8:32-33; Eph 3:20)
  • You can’t “out-give” God (Luke 6:38)
GOD OWNS EVERYTHING
  • Paradigm shift-God owns everything (Haggai 2:8; Psalm 24:1; 1Cor 6:19-20)
  • We are managers (Deut 8:18; Eccl 5:19; Matt 25:14-30)
  • As managers, we are “entrusted” (Prov 10:22; Matt 25:14-30)
  • Proper relationship to God is a sign of spiritual health and maturity (Matt 25:14-30)
GOD DEMANDS A RETURN
  • “Tithes,”-the first-fruits, 10% (Num 18:34; Prov 3:9; Mal 3:8-10)
  • “Offerings”-tithes above and beyond 10% (Deut 8:18; Eccl 5:19; Matt 25:14-30)
  • Although the “Sermon on the Mount” made it clear that Christ fulfilled the Law, in all cases, he “raised the bar (Matt 5-7; 2 Cor 9:6)
  • An “eternal principle” that predates the Law since Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek (Gen 14:18-20)
WEALTH IS FLEETING
  • Wealth is “symbolic” of our attitude toward God (Luke 16:11)
  • The rich are in a precarious position (Deut 6:10-12; Luke 6:24; Luke 16:25; Mark 10:25)
GIVING IS AN ANTIDOTE TO GREED
  • Easy to be “good” and greedy (Mark 10:21).
  • The “certain rich man” in Luke 12, could easily have been an upstanding Presbyterian-a legitimate businessman, blessed by God and a conservative investor (Luke 12:16-21)
  • Guards against anxiety and produces contentment (Phil 4:6; Phil 4:12)
  • Many “warnings” in Scripture to rich people (e.g., 1 Tim 6:17-19; Matt 19:24; Mark 10:25; Luke 12:15)
GOD REWARDS HIS STEWARDS
  • Rewards are a valid motivator and most common in scripture. Ratio of Reward:Fear:Love in Scripture is estimated at 6:1:1. (Heb 11:24: Eph 2:10)
  • Reminder that we are not here forever (1 Tim 6:17-19; Luke 12:33-34)
  • Proportional to giving (Matt 25:20-21)
