Welcoming the Stranger: A Biblical Conversation on Immigration

SBPC is hosting “Welcoming the Stranger: a Biblical Conversation on Immigration” with Matthew Soerens on Friday, February 1 at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary.

Matt, co-author of Welcoming the Stranger and Seeking Refugeand U.S. Director of Church Mobilization for World Relief, will help us understand and dialogue the realities of immigration and help us respond with biblical values. Mike McClenahan will moderate a panel of local leaders engaged on both sides of the border and making a difference:  Jon Huckins, Co-founding Director, Global Immersion Project and Co-author of Mending the Divides; Jose Serrano, World Relief Immigration Specialist; and Linda Martinez Haley, Director, North County Immigration and Citizenship Center.

Everyone is invited. It’s a great opportunity to engage this front page issue in a new way with our leadership and community.

  1. I urge you to consult the book “Concerning Dissent and Civil Disobedience” by former US Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas. Easily found via Amazon, and highly relevant to discussion about the Sanctuary movement, immigration and beyond. John Berg, member of the Israel-Palestine Mission Network (of the North Coast WA state.)
