Be Still

Thursday, April 2, 2020 Submitted by Ellie Goolkasian Lugo Yesterday, with no planning, I sat down to pray at the same time Enrique began playing worship songs on piano. The pleasure of the knowledge of Him erased all worry.......

More Than Just a Meal

Meet “Ray” I was homeless for several years. Sleeping under the bridges, passed out on the sidewalks, in the bushes, under the freeways by downtown. My dad passed away when I was seven. At the time I didn’t know he was a heroin addict and he died from overdose. Not long after, my mom met my stepdad and we never got along. It was rough. I felt like I needed to belong to a family that had my back. That’s when I got involved in the gang and started getting into trouble.......

SBPC Coronavirus Response - March 12

SBPC Coronavirus Response – March 12

Dear Church Family, I’m writing to update our response to the coronavirus outbreak. The facts and risks seem to change by the hour. By Wednesday morning the World Health Organization classified this as a pandemic, the governor recommended cancelling all public meetings of 250 or more, and the president set travel bans in place. While I was meeting with staff this afternoon, the San Diego County supervisors banned large gatherings and asked that all other gatherings meet the social distance standard of six feet. All public officials have asked us to take into......

Steps to Stop Spread of Germs at SBPC

Dear Church Family, I’m writing to share with you some safety guidelines for our life together as we address concerns around the coronavirus and the seasonal flu. These ideas are prudent for us at any time of the year, especially when we are concerned about spreading germs, like flu and cold seasons.  Information is changing every day. Just this week, the state of California declared a state of emergency because of the reported cases and deaths due to the coronavirus and today, government authorities in Washington state are taking additional steps.
