SBPC Coronavirus Response - March 12

SBPC Coronavirus Response – March 12

Write By:

Dear Church Family, I’m writing to update our response to the coronavirus outbreak. The facts and risks seem to change by the hour. By Wednesday morning the World Health Organization classified this as a pandemic, the governor recommended cancelling all public meetings of 250 or more, and the president set travel bans in place. While I was meeting with staff this afternoon, the San Diego County supervisors banned large gatherings and asked that all other gatherings meet the social distance standard of six feet. All public officials have asked us to take into......

Background The Designated Associate Pastor Nominating Committee ( the DAPNC ) was approved by the congregation on Sunday February 9th. This committee is mandated to search for a suitable candidate for the position of Associate Pastor for Student Ministries. Just to recap, the called candidate will serve as a Designated Associate Pastor for two or four years, and at the end of this time could be “installed” indefinitely, by vote of the congregation. In this process the Presbytery of San Diego will present us with a short list of qualified candidates to......

Write By:

Dear Church Family, I’m writing to share with you some safety guidelines for our life together as we address concerns around the coronavirus and the seasonal flu. These ideas are prudent for us at any time of the year, especially when we are concerned about spreading germs, like flu and cold seasons.  Information is changing every day. Just this week, the state of California declared a state of emergency because of the reported cases and deaths due to the coronavirus and today, government authorities in Washington state are taking additional steps. While......

Party on the Patio

Party on the Patio

Write By:

Part of the joy of a day like Community Serve Day is to see how God was at work though others as they were serving.  As we begin a season of Lent, take time to draw closer to God and experience how He works through the experiences of others.  Get to know someone new at the Party on the Patio, listen to their stories and share yours.   And yes there will be patio games and prizes!  Whiffle Ball, face painting, a photo booth and food.  If you have ever wondered what you......

Underwear and Socks Needed

Underwear and Socks Needed

Write By:

Underwear is a big budget item for New Day Urban Ministries (Formerly Presbyterian Urban Ministries or PUM) because we feel that everyone who comes here for clothes should receive a pair of socks and underwear, too. Clean undies are something that we take for granted but are a blessing for someone who has been living on the streets or cannot afford this very basic of human dignity. Please bring clean underwear (any size, either gender, the guys prefer boxers to briefs) or pairs of socks. All sizes needed, children to adults.  Thanks......

Christmas in Rosarito

Christmas in Rosarito

Write By:

This past December 15th  was filled with the love and goodness of God, and with 1000 Christmas Shoe Boxes and soccer balls for the children living in Rosarito. The majority of these boxes were filled by the loving hands of families at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, and many families donated soccer balls as well. The Christmas Shoe Boxes included Christmas surprises like, beanies, toys, t-shirts, crayons, paper, pencils, candy treats and some toiletries. For many of them… it was their Christmas! Sixteen people from north of the border, many from SBPC, teamed......
