Letter from Word of Life Camp Hungary

“….there is nothing too difficult for you…..Jer.32:17” As the Covid-19, made its way into our country, Hungary, as well our life and ministry changed drastically since the middle of March. We did not stop serving, we just had to change our ways of serving. New challenges require new solutions. Like most of the schools, Word of Life Hungary’s Bible Institute had to switch from classroom teaching to online teaching. March 16th, we had to send our Bible Institute’s students home, which was quite a challenge having 59 students from 15 countries. They......

Update from Session

Update from Session

Session held its regular April meeting on Tuesday, April 14 via a video conference call. Pastor Paula Taylor led us and the Deacons in a spiritual practice at the start of the meeting, reminding us who Jesus is to all of us and each of us while we lead the church in the midst of sheltering in place. After, the Session continued separately by hearing updates from Pastor Mike McClenahan on SBPC finances, staff, and ministry. In March, we continued the eighth month of operating at a surplus and our reserves are......

Supporting Our Community With our Giving

A portion of our offering today will be given to directly support some of the most vulnerable families in our community. We will work with North County Immigration and Citizenship Center, Kingdom Builder Foundation and Casa de Amistad. At North County Immigration and Citizenship Center (NCICC) and Casa de Amistad, the vulnerable families we serve are experiencing devastating job loss and reduction in hours due to the COVID-19 “shelter in place” protocol. Our clients and students are telling us that they’re worried about paying their rent and utilities, providing computers, internet and......

Solana Beach Community Members are fundraising to support Casa de Amistad’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. Rudy’s Taco Shop (524 Stevens Ave., Solana Beach) is donating 25% of profits in April to our Emergency Relief Effort. This was really a really nice surprise and it was inspiring to see the community come together to support those in need. We have set up an online donation page on our website as well at www.casadeamistad.org. Our goal is to raise money for emergency relief for Casa de Amistad families and all of our currently enrolled......

Thursday, April 2, 2020 Submitted by Ellie Goolkasian Lugo Yesterday, with no planning, I sat down to pray at the same time Enrique began playing worship songs on piano. As I lifted my heart towards the divine presence, my husband sang these words: “No hay lugar más alto, más grande, que estar a tus pies!” The translation, “There is no place higher or grander than to be at Your feet!” I agreed at that precise moment with all my heart and soul. The pleasure of the knowledge of Him erased all worry.......

More Than Just a Meal

Meet “Ray” I was homeless for several years. Sleeping under the bridges, passed out on the sidewalks, in the bushes, under the freeways by downtown. My dad passed away when I was seven. At the time I didn’t know he was a heroin addict and he died from overdose. Not long after, my mom met my stepdad and we never got along. It was rough. I felt like I needed to belong to a family that had my back. That’s when I got involved in the gang and started getting into trouble.......

To our Community of Faith, Although these times may appear to be uncertain, we have the certainty in knowing that nothing is outside of God’s control. Our Board of Directors has been praying for our community of faith, as well as for discernment as to how God will use these events for His glory. As always, our investment committee is taking a “long view” as to the events that have occurred over the past few weeks. Our promise to you is to continue to be good stewards of our resources through this......
